I'm Back

After taking a much unneeded break from the blogging world, the world's great Chicago Sports fan enthusiast is back. Let me run through a few quick hits:
My early April predictions were bad.
The Cubs are the worst team in Baseball.
Load up the truck and take the entire franchise away.
Ownership, Management, the Coaching Staff and every play except Derrick Lee and Carlos Zambrano can take the first ticket out of here. How pathetic!
What will it take for this team to win a championship? Alot!

The Bulls have solidified their future. They will play for another championship ring in 2008-2009 season. This team is going to be the real deal, Holyfield.
Dwyane Wade and Lebron James are more scared of the Bulls then the Bulls are scared of them.
Tyrus Thomas and Thabo (Thai-Bo) Sefalosha (I think that is how you spell it) seem to fit Bulls needs. Athleticism and Size. I'll take it.

The Bears will win the Super Bowl this year. This is not a biased opinion, this is fact. I have no doubt in my mind Da Bears will hoist up a super bowl trophy in Miami in 2007.

I hate saying this but it is true and I'm a truist, The Chicago White Sox are the best team in baseball and they will win another world series ring this year. Sorry Tigers, you had a good run. The Sox have it all and they know what to do with their talent. WoW. That is all I can say. I wish these guys were playing on the North side.

Speaking of I'll be out there tomorrow cheering the Cubs on for their 3oth win of the year. Once again. How pathetic. Go cubs. I'll holla back tomorrow.

Greg Maddux is Pitching Legend

Greg Maddux blows away the competition. Let's consider this. The man just turned 40 years old. He just celebrated his 321 win of his career. He is now 3-0 in his first 3 games with an era lower than 2.00 with all of his wins coming in 4-1 victories. He is currently the only right handed 40 year old pitcher in the major leagues and he is April's early frontrunner for his 5th Cy Young award. The man has won countless gold gloves, I believe the total is 14 and he continues to keep hitters guessing throwing the ball tops 85 mph. He is amazing and he is a great man of character and integrity. He is the only person I would want to talk to about pitching because given his raw god given talent I believe he is the greatest pitcher the game of baseball has ever seen. Let me say that again, he is not the greatest thrower or most dominating pitcher of all time but from the standpoint of the art of pitching, Greg Maddux is the greatest pitcher of all time. Thank you for coming back home Greg. We missed you and we need you now more than ever.

Chicago Sports Quick Hits

A few quick hits:
The cubs will be a surprise this year and finish second in the National League Central. They will trade Kerry Wood and they will make the National League Wild Card.
The Bulls will draft Joaquim Noah with one of they're two first round picks this year.
The Bears will draft whatever Tight End they can get they're hands on with the 26th pick and look for secondary help later in the draft. I believe they will get either Mercedes Lewis TE out of UCLA or Leonard Pope out of Georgia. They will land talented Darnell Bing S out of USC who we be a tremendous pro in the second round of the draft. The Bears will be playing in Miami in Super Bowl 41 next year. You heard it here first.

What should the Bears do Next?

With almost nothing play for this coming Sunday, the Bears enter the season finale with some very interesting prospects on the horizon. Let's face it this has been an unbelievable year. Not a lucky year like in 2001, but a year that has been very fortunate and has seen young Bears talent make the most of every game. This team has won on heart, ability, coaching and a system that has maximized the potential of team that is still learning how to win football games.

With all of Jerry Angelo's shortcoming and he has plenty, one of the best things he has done has locked up a lot of young talent for a long time. Meaning, the Bears have the ability to be very good for a long time. They have to find a way to get over the hump but after they string together some more victories and start to gain experience in the playoffs they will be dangerous. Still they have holes that will need to be filled. Big gaping holes that can find a way to bury potentially dangerous NFL teams in the depths of NFL obscurity if they don't find a way to fill them.

Free Agency
The Best thing about next year, whenever it comes is we are not losing any of our key players. There are only four main players who are restricted free agents and one key player that is an unrestricted free agent. Jerry Azumah, Roberto Garza, John St. Clair and Terrence Metcalf all will be restricted free agents at the end of the year and Hunter Hillemeyer will be a restricted free agent meaning the Bears can match any offer that another team gives to Hunter. This is important seeing how there will be key free agents looking to come to the greatest city in the country and play for a contender. Now I say we need to keep Hillemeyer to keep this dominating linebacking crew in line. These guys feed off of each other. Also the Bears should try to sign Metcalf. Keeping a crushing offensive line in place is very important for improving a weak offense. This is the key area where staying in tact means the world to a Quarterback, just ask Brett Favre. The only way Metcalf should be let go is if they can significantly improve the right guard position and I am not sure there is anyone who can fill that void. Steve Hutchinson is one of the best guards in football but there is a good chance the Seahawks will use their franchise tag on Hutchinson and if not they are going to do everything possible to lock up this former Wolverine for a long time.

The Bears need to look for a Wide Receiver. This is a no brainer. T.O. Is not the answer so who is? Well Reggie Wayne will be a free agent but I doubt the Bears will make another huge wide receiver free agent splash like the one they made last year landing Muhsin Muhammed just days after the free agent signing period began. I believe the Bears will make small moves next year possibly trying to land a diamond in the rough. But the Bears are a running team and they have a lot of young prospects the team seems to be high on such as a healing Mark Bradley and Airese Curry and Bernard Berrian. If they do make an offensive splash it will be in the draft.

The Draft
Mercedes Lewis, he is the guy. He is a Tight End out of UCLA with all the skills to be special. I guess it is just a question of whether he will last to the end of the first round where the Bears figure to be. There are also some Wide Receivers available such as Santonio Holmes out of Ohio State or even Maurice Stovall from Notre Dame. The bad thing is this year is one of the weakest years in years for a run on talented wide receivers. The Bears might again find themselves in a position where they will have to develop some of their young talent and try to find a rough rock and polish him into a shiny gem. Either way the Bears are going to be good. They are seriously going to challenge the Patriots for the next dynasty. I believe a healthy Rex Grossman will find his way to his first Pro Bowl next year after some key defensive injuries force the Bears offense to actually put up some points. We need one more polished speed threat, a Tight End capable of catching some passes, an improving defense (yes they can improve) a return man and one healthy quarterback although we have found a great number two just in case. Things in Chicago, Soldier Field in particular should keep shaking the lake for a long time to come. It looks to be a hell of a ride. Even if this Sunday has come to a halt.

Muhsin Muhammed

Muhsin Muhammed has been a bust! At least the 2005 version of Muhsin Muhammed has busted out as a Bear. Here is a man that dominated the Receiving world last year setting franchise records with the Panthers. This year he has dropped the balls, or should I say balls.

M&M must lead the league in dropped passes. Tell me this, name any other #1 receiver besides maybe Brandon Lloyd, who has dropped more passes than Moooooose? I have had enough. With my perfect 20/20 hindsight vision it looks like the Giants made out with the free agent receiving trophy by signing a younger, better version of M&M in the name of Plaxico Burress. I just hope Mr. Burress doesn't get a chance to showcase his skills against the Bears this off season. He is a man who gets balls and does not let go of them.

Moose seems like his specialty is dropping the most crucial of passes, no matter who is throwing him the balls. By the way Mr. Professional the fourth round pick Kyle Orton deserves a much needed apology for that hissy fit you threw on national T.V. Something Orton avoided when Muhammed dropped many crucial balls against Carolina and Tampa Bay and Green Bay and on and on....

Right now Muhsin Muhammed is the Bears #2 receiver. Bernard Berrian has come on strong and established himself as a true #1 receiver these last few weeks. He can fly, he can catch, he can stretch the field, he finds himself open in space and he changes games. He is a real playmaker developing on this anemic Bears offense. So Mr. Moose why don't you lose yourself in the moment, the moment you own it you always let them go. I don't Eminem could have said in any better. Take a back seat, look for the 5 yard hook route on 1st and 10 and stop dropping touchdown passes. You are ruing my world. Not to mention the hopes and dreams of so many optimistic Super Bowl Bears Fans.

Chicago Sports

Let's start with something that all Chicagoans hold near and dear to their hearts, their sports teams. Right now Chicago sports has never been better. Da Chicago Bears have won their division for the first time since 2001 and they are guaranteed a spot in the playoffs and a first round playoff bye.

Led by the best defense in football the Chicago Bears have found a way to come together after a 1-3 start to go 10-1 in their last 11 games including an eight week win streak. While 3rd year quarterback Rex Grossman was nursing a broken ankle, rookie quarterback Kyle Orton (a 4th round pick from Purdue) led the Bears on an impressive and improbable run to the playoffs.

With a win over the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field on Christmas day the Bears swept the Packers for the first time since 1991 and showed the rest of the league how dominating their team can be once Rex Grossman was in the lineup. If this offense in chicago can provide 17-24 points a game with this smothering and attacking defense then the Chicago Bears could see themselves traveling to Detroit for a second time this year seeking their second victory in Ford Field and their second Super Bowl win in 20 years. Stranger things have happened. Just ask White Sox fans.
